EYE CARE SERVICES

  • Comprehensive Eye Exam.  A comprehensive eye exam, with dilation, includes a series of tests to determine the health of the eyes and visual status.
  • Visual Acuity Testing. Visual acuity is a measurement of the patient's vision using an eye chart. This exam is a preliminary test of how clearly a patient can see in each eye; however, it does not give a prescription for corrective lenses.
  • Retinoscopy | Phoropter.  Both are tests that allow the doctor to obtain an approximate prescription for eyeglasses. The retinscope is a hand-held instrument, meanwhile the phoropter an instrument that is positioned in front of the patient’s face during the eye exam.
  • Refraction.  Refraction test is preformed to determine a patients' refractive status -  will tell the doctor which prescription lenses will correct the eyesight.
  • Slit Lamp Test.  The slit lamp is an instrument that allows the doctor to examine the internal and external parts of the eye in detail, such as the conjunctiva, iris, lens, cornea, retina and the optic nerve. *Early diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases are essential for preventing vision loss.
  • Tonometry.  Tonometry is a test to determine the IOP (intraocular pressure- the pressure inside your eye) and is one test used to detect glaucoma.  Glaucoma is a disease of the optic nerve that can cause peripheral vision loss if the IOP in the eye is too high.
  • Dilated Pupillary Exam.  Pupil Dilation drops are administered to give the doctor a wider field of view of the retina for signs of diseases.
  • Visual Field Test/ Confrontational Fields. This measures the patient's peripheral (side) vision.  This test also allows the doctor to determine if conditions, such as stroke or glaucoma, have affected your vision.
  • Medical Eye Exam v. Vision Eye Exam.  A Medical Eye examination is a comprehensive examination of the eye that reveals a complex abnormality of the eye and/or systemic conditions that may negatively compromise the visual system.
  • Daytona OPTOMAP Retinal Imaging.
  • Refractive Surgery Consults.
  • Contact Lens Examination.
